Excited that I can finally announce that my programme New York, 1920 will open the 2018-2019 season of Mika Putterman's concert series Autour de la flûte. Violist Jennifer Thiessen, Antoine Malette-Chénier Harpiste/Harpist and myself (on an original 1870s conical Böhm flute by Isidor Lot) will explore original early-20th century repertoire for this rare combination of instruments as well as some historical arrangements of the Great Masters.
During the années folles the Julliard School of Music was founded to afford North America the kind of high-calibre music school that, up until then, simply did not exist outside of Europe. Some of France's best musicians came onboard as faculty and forever changed the musical landscape of New York City.
‹Serious music› and ‹light classics› by Bax, Debussy, Elgar, da Falla, Mozart, Rachmnanoff, Rameau (by way of Saint-Saëns) and Salzedo on period instruments, in the warm and intimate Salle Joseph Rouleau of the Jeunesses Musicales Canada.
J'ai hâte !
